Laborers' Unity Conference set for March 20-22 in Madison

Nearly 200 rank-and-file members from across the state attended the 1996 Unity Conference in Stevens Point.

The second Wisconsin Laborers Unity Conference will be held March 20 - 22, 1998 at the Concourse Hotel in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.

The Laborers' Unity Conference is a rank-and-file conference that is open to all members in good standing with a Laborers' Local Union affiliated with the Wisconsin Laborers' District Council.

Like the 1st Unity Conference held in Stevens Point in the Spring of 1996, next years event will feature sessions and workshops on a number of Laborers programs, including skill improvement, legislative and political action, market recovery, fair contracting and labor/management cooperation.

Health Fair & Financial Planning
In addition to workshops, guest speakers, and a special session on Financial and Retirement Planning, the 1998 Laborers' Unity Conference will feature a Health Fair, hosted by the Laborers' Health and Safety Fund of North America, to provide members and their families with on the spot preventive health screenings and other informational services.

Registration
Conference registration is free and includes a reception Friday evening; continental breakfast and lunch Saturday; and continental breakfast Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday hotel accommodations will be provided to attendees who reside outside a 60 mile commuting distance to Madison.

Invited speakers include LIUNA General President Arthur A. Coia, LIUNA Regional Manager Terry Healy, US Senator Russ Feingold, and state Senator and Congressional Candidate Joe Wineke.
